Testimonials:

“Working with Marla was like having a clever, fun first reader who also happens to understand exactly how sentences work. She caught structural issues, improved the pacing, and refined the language line by line. She also fixed all the commas! My fantasy novel came back tighter, clearer, and far more vivid.”

Join Marla and her colleague and fellow bodacious babe, author Nadine Novak, for the launch of Moss & Bone.

Moss & Bone – a zine, a witch shop, a collaboration between artists, a whatever it is/turns out to be – began as conversations between good friends. Over the years, topics have covered everything from recipes to romance novels, tarot to tailoring, politics to perfume. The through-line, though, has always been the same: a devotion to the idea that curiosity, imagination, desire, and presentation can be agents of personal and collective repair. Now, this Virgo season (Fall 2026), join us in embracing ritualized whimsy, joy, and well-intentioned cringe. Intentional moments – a thoughtfully prepared cocktail, a carefully chosen word, a shared story, poem, song, or a spell cast melodramatically at dusk – can all become small acts of embodied enchantment that bring something positive to the world.

A small company devoted to works of beauty, strangeness, and intelligence is in preparation.
